Sensei Steven Ogi Gets University of Hawaii Hilo Award 2013-2014 Ka Lama Ku-update 5-9-14


Nominated by UH Book Store Manger and UH Judo Club Adviser Sensei Jason Tanaka
Jason Nominated Steven for his leadership in Circle K (Vice President) and Judo ( Club President), , for donating hundreds of hours of community service,both clubs are affiliated with the University.
Steven Holds a 4.0 GPA Plans to graduate this fall, he is a Kinesiology Major
Sensei Tanaka remembers Steven as a skinny 9th grader at Waiakea High School with no Judo skills
Now  7 years later Steven is a NiDan Black Belt and puts back into the community as a Judo Sensei by helping coach Waiakea High Judo Team, Assisitant Sensei at Puna Hongwanji Judo Club under Head Sensei David Nishioka.
He also helps Sister Club Hilo Hongwanji Judo Club, Shudokan Judo Club, lead by Sensei Mike Hayashi and Sensei Gregg Yonemori.
Steven Is Head Sensei and Judo President for UH Hilo Judo Club, encouraged and support from Sensei's David Nishioka, Ray Imada (Oahu) and Jason Tanaka who helped make the UH Hilo Judo Club become a reality
Also Steven is  a Certified Kata Instructor and N2- National Judo referee.
Update: Sensei Steven Ogi will be taking the Waiakea Judo Team to the States Final on May 10, 2014

He will also be taking Judoka's From the UH Judo Club and Puna Hongwanji Judo Club to...5th Annual Grassroots Judo Tournament July 3-5 2014 on Oahu Hawaii.
